During my matric year, I consistently achieved outstanding results across my subjects, demonstrating both dedication and a strong academic work ethic. I have been tutoring since 2018 and have successfully completed over 157 hours with BrightSparkz. Through my tutoring experience, I have worked with learners from different academic backgrounds and understand the importance of adapting my teaching style to suit each student’s individual needs. As a tutor, I aim to assist students by creating opportunities for growth in knowledge while ensuring that they develop a clear understanding of each concept. I believe that confidence and understanding go hand in hand, and I strive to make learning both engaging and rewarding.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading biographies and learning about the journeys of successful individuals. I find motivation and inspiration in real-life stories of perseverance and achievement, as they offer valuable life lessons and perspectives. Hi I’m Monique! I have completed a Masters in Philosophy Social Science Research Methods and I hold a National Diploma in Special Needs Education. In my matric year, I achieved stellar marks across all my subjects, including Afrikaans, English, Maths, Accounting and Business Studies. I am also a trained teacher, which has given me a strong academic foundation as well as practical classroom experience that I bring into every tutoring session.

I have accumulated more than 340 hours of tutoring experience with BrightSparkz Tutors, where I have worked with a diverse range of learners and learning needs. This extensive experience has equipped me with the ability to adapt my teaching style to suit each student, ensuring that lessons are engaging, effective and tailored. As a tutor, I aim to make learning fun and easy. This has sparked a passion in me to help learners reach those breakthrough moments—I truly love seeing when a child “gets it”. Watching students succeed, build confidence, and even surprise themselves is incredibly rewarding. My main reason for tutoring is to give something back while being involved in something that has a meaningful, life-long impact.

In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, swimming, hiking, mosaic art and drumming, which all reflect my creative and active nature. I am actively involved in women’s development and mentoring at my local church, and I have volunteered in reading assistance training and administrative support for an NPO. I also assist with a small family business. These experiences have strengthened my sense of responsibility, empathy and organisation—qualities that I bring into my tutoring to support and uplift every learner I work with

Philna B

Hi, I’m Philna! I have a warm and bubbly nature, and I absolutely love working with children and helping them shine. In my matric year, I achieved a distinction in English, a subject that has always been close to my heart and one that I enjoy sharing with others. I have been tutoring since 2023, and during this time I’ve discovered just how rewarding it is to watch learners grow in both confidence and ability.

As a tutor, my aim is to meet each learner where they are and guide them towards their full potential. I take pride in being approachable and patient, ensuring that every learner feels supported and encouraged. My role is not only to assist with their current learning abilities, but also to provide the tools and guidance they need to thrive academically and beyond. I believe that learning should feel exciting and achievable, and I love creating that environment for my students.

In my spare time, I have a playful balance of interests—I adore diving into the twists and turns of true crime stories just as much as I lose myself in magical fantasy novels. I also enjoy baking sweet treats and trying out new activities that spark curiosity and creativity. Just as I love experimenting in the kitchen or discovering a new book, I bring the same enthusiasm and sense of adventure to my tutoring.
