COVID-19 Statement
BrightSparkz Tutors will continue to operate online and in-home as allowed by the lockdown level restrictions gazetted on 11 January 2021. For clients and tutors who are not comfortable with in-home tutoring or Learn@Home services, who have comorbidities or who have been exposed to COVID-19, online tutoring is still available. If your current tutor cannot assist you online or in person, we have excellent, trained tutors for all subjects ready and available to assist you and your child during this time. We regret that no refunds on packages will be provided at this time.
We strongly recommend that tutoring continues in person or online during Levels 1-3, and online during levels 4-5. We have brilliant tutors for all subjects ready and available to assist you and your child during this time. If you have any questions about online lessons please let us know. Have a look at an example of one of our online lessons here.
BrightSparkz will also continue to offer other learning support services online. Feel free to take a look at our Little Sparkz – Parent Edition (3-5 year olds) and our online languages & study skills courses, for educational activities your child can do to keep their minds engaged over this time. We are also able to provide in person readers and scribes, and online readers if your school is able to accommodate this.
BrightSparkz Tutors is also able to provide Learn@Home facilitators. This service is for parents requiring in-home schoolwork assistance for a minimum of 3 hrs/day, 3 times a week. Read more here.
Learn@Home services will include:
- Assistance with homework, schoolwork & homeschooling
- Assistance with learning support for children of all ages
- Subject-specific in-home tutoring
- Supervision over breaks between schoolwork sessions
Learn@Home services will NOT include:
- Transporting of children
- Additional childcare activities such as meal preparation, bath or bedtime routines, bathroom breaks, chores, errands or shopping
- In-home tutoring services for less than 3 hours/3 times a week
- Medical care of children who are sick with COVID-19 or other illnesses
- Supervision of children without another adult present at the home
Prior to commencing in-home tutoring or Learn@Home services, comprehensive hygiene and sanitation protocols will be provided each to each tutor, and an indemnity will need to be signed to state that all precautions were taken prior to in-home services commencing. This includes informing BrightSparkz Tutors immediately, in writing, if the tutor or an immediate family member living in the same household has been exposed to COVID-19, or have contracted COVID-19, at which point all in-home services will cease until the tutor has tested negative for COVID-19, and at the discretion of all parties concerned.
Here are some WHO guidelines on how to stay healthy and what the symptoms of COVID-19 are. Please remember to:
- Wear a mask when in close contact with a person outside of your household members for any period of time
- Wash your hands regularly, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds
- Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are unavailable
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow when sneezing or coughing
- Social distancing: keep a distance of at least 1.5m between you and other people, and avoid large crowds or unnecessary gatherings
We hope we can make this difficult time easier for you by allaying your education concerns. If you have any other learning support or tutoring needs during this time, please let us know.
