During my matric year, I achieved excellent results across all my subjects, including English, French, Maths Literacy, Life Orientation, Life Science, Consumer Studies and History. My academic journey has strengthened my ability to work with students in a patient, supportive and structured way, while helping them build both confidence and strong study habits.

As a tutor, my goal is to help each student truly understand their subject matter while improving their marks and encouraging them to push themselves that extra mile. I believe that every student learns differently, which is why I aim to create a comfortable and encouraging environment where students feel confident asking questions and reaching out whenever they need support. I enjoy helping learners develop not only academically, but also personally, by motivating them to stay focused, organised and determined in reaching their goals.

Outside of academics, I have a wide range of interests that have shaped me into a well-rounded and disciplined individual. I have been horse riding since I was 10 years old and, having grown up in Botswana where the sport is very popular, I spent many weekends at the stables with friends. I also have a passion for baking and cooking, which inspired me to take Consumer Studies. The subject helped me develop technical skills while teaching me valuable lessons about nutrition and self-care. In addition, high jump and dancing are a big part of my life, and I enjoy taking classes in a variety of dance styles. These experiences have taught me dedication, balance and perseverance, qualities that I bring into my tutoring approach every day.

Jordan B

Hi, I’m Jordan! I’m currently completing a BEng in Civil Engineering and have been tutoring since 2023. In my matric year, I achieved four distinctions, earning 83% in CAT, 82% in EGD, 85% in French, and 82% in Maths. I’m passionate about helping students overcome academic challenges and build their confidence, and I believe my recent experience with the school curriculum gives me a unique perspective on what it takes to succeed.

My approach to tutoring is all about making learning easy and relatable. I believe it’s essential to first understand where a student is struggling and then tailor my explanation to them. I strive to explain complex concepts in simple, understandable ways, just as a peer would, rather than a traditional teacher. My goal is to break down difficult topics into manageable parts and provide different, relatable examples so that you can feel empowered and confident in your own abilities.

When I’m not focused on my studies or tutoring, I’m passionate about high-energy, competitive environments. I enjoy sports and physical activities like basketball, soccer, rugby, and running, not just for fitness, but for the teamwork, strategy, and discipline they teach. I’m also a big fan of Formula 1 and love gaming in my free time. These hobbies allow me to stay sharp, think tactically, and unwind while still fuelling my competitive edge.

As a tutor, my goal is to help each student understand their work in a way that makes the most sense to them. I adapt to different learning styles and always aim to explain concepts in a way that’s clear, engaging, and practical. But more than that, I see myself as a cheerleader for my students — someone who supports, encourages, and motivates them to keep chasing their goals. I believe in speaking life into the learners I work with and reminding them that they are capable of so much more than they often realise.

Outside of tutoring, I have a big love for fashion — I enjoy keeping up with different styles and trends and expressing myself through what I wear. I also love walking, hiking, and staying active, as it helps me stay balanced and energized.
