Janelle J

Hi! I’m Janelle. I am currently completing my Bachelor of Law, a journey that follows a highly successful academic record in my matric year. I am proud to have achieved six distinctions, including 93% in Life Orientation, 86% in Maths Literacy, 84% in Tourism, and 83% in English. Additionally, I secured 80% in both Afrikaans and Business Studies, providing me with a diverse and strong academic foundation that I draw upon to support my students.

As a tutor, my primary goal is to help every student reach the very best of their capability. I am dedicated to identifying the specific areas they are struggling with and breaking down complex concepts into understandable parts. By creating a supportive and patient environment, I aim to foster a genuine understanding of the material, ensuring that my students feel empowered and confident in their academic pursuits.

In my spare time, I enjoy finding a balance between creativity and physical activity. I love reading and painting, both of which allow me to express my creative side and unwind. I also place a high value on staying active, as it keeps me energised and focused. This balanced lifestyle helps me bring a refreshed and enthusiastic perspective to every tutoring session I conduct.

In my matric year, I achieved two distinctions, including 91% in Life Orientation and 86% in Life Science, along with solid results in Accounting, English, and Physical Science. My experience across a variety of subjects allows me to understand different learning styles and support students in a well-rounded way.

Madeline V

Hi I’m Madeline!, and I am an enthusiastic and qualified tutor dedicated to foundational learning. I hold a Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase, which has equipped me with specialised knowledge in early childhood development and effective teaching methodologies for young students. Academically, I performed well in my final school year, achieving two distinctions: 80% in Dance and 87% in Physical Science. Additionally, I secured strong marks in both English and Social Science, demonstrating my versatility across diverse subject areas.

I have been actively tutoring since 2018, experience which has shaped my dynamic and supportive approach to education. I view my role as a two-way process: to both gain and impart knowledge effectively. Above all, I make it my priority to ensure that the student not only understands the work thoroughly but is also equipped with the strategies necessary for successful independent studying. My goal is to empower students to take ownership of their learning journey and build a strong, self-reliant academic foundation.

Outside of my professional commitments, I enjoy spending my spare time on activities that keep me active and creative. My interests complement my teaching approach by fostering energy, discipline, and a positive outlook. I believe that a balanced life contributes to effective teaching and learning, and I strive to bring that same enthusiasm and dedication into every tutoring session.

Erin L

Hi I’m Erin!, and I am a passionate and experienced tutor with a strong academic foundation. I have completed a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, which has given me valuable insight into learning processes, cognitive engagement, and diverse learning styles. In my final matric year, I achieved four distinctions, demonstrating my commitment to academic excellence. These results included 85% in Afrikaans, 83% in English, 89% in History, and an impressive 91% in Music.

I have been actively involved in tutoring students since 2015, allowing me to hone an effective and empowering approach to education. I believe tutoring is different from teaching; my primary goal is not to think for the student, but rather to show them how to engage with the information and ultimately do the work for themselves. I focus on developing critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills, ensuring that students gain true mastery and self-confidence in their subject areas.

Outside of my tutoring commitments, I have always had a keen interest in music and the arts. I am a dedicated musician, playing the piano and the ‘cello, and I also enjoy classical singing. In my spare time, I find immense joy in crafting and caring for animals. These hobbies require patience, creativity, and attention to detail, qualities which naturally feed back into my tutoring style, helping me to provide a supportive and tailored learning environment.

Ashlyn K

Hello! I’m Ashlyn, and I’m currently completing my Bachelor of Education in the Foundation Phase. Since achieving a strong overall mark in my matric year, I’ve been dedicated to tutoring, which I’ve been doing since 2022. My goal as a tutor is to create an incredibly positive and encouraging environment where students feel safe and confident. I focus on providing genuine one-on-one support, meeting each student exactly where they are at academically. I always strive to help students overcome any fear of asking questions, ultimately boosting their self-confidence and acting as a positive role model in their educational journey.

Beyond my academic studies and tutoring, much of my time is dedicated to working with young people and serving my community. I am currently a Section Head—meaning I lead a team of youth leaders—for my church’s youth programme for children in Grade R-1, having previously served the Grade 4-5 age group last year. I’m also a passionate advocate for community upliftment, serving as a member and the Secretary for the board of the non-profit organisation, Raising Hope SA. This volunteer work complements my extensive experience working with children, including the rewarding time I spent volunteering at the Hope Cape Town preschool for children with disabilities.

I absolutely love working with children and have developed a special passion for and experience with children and teenagers who have disabilities and learning challenges. I believe in making learning accessible and enjoyable for everyone. When I’m not studying or volunteering, I find relaxation in reading and music; I’m actively involved in my church’s worshipping team for both the youth and Sunday services. All these experiences have cultivated in me the patience, dedication, and leadership skills necessary to be an effective and inspiring tutor.

Phumzile k

Hi, I’m Phumzile! I have a Bachelor of Education (ECD) in Foundation Phase, a qualification that has given me a deep understanding of how young children learn best. This background allows me to approach each lesson with patience and creativity, ensuring that students feel comfortable and engaged. I have been a dedicated tutor since 2020, and I am passionate about making a positive impact on every student’s academic journey.

My main goal as a tutor is to provide focused, one-on-one assistance to students and help them truly understand their study material. I know that some students, particularly with subjects like Zulu, need extra support to succeed. I aim to be a patient guide, breaking down complex concepts and ensuring that every learner gets the personalised help they need to feel confident and empowered in their studies. It’s incredibly rewarding to see students achieve their goals.

In my spare time, I love to indulge in my passion for make-up and beauty. I see it as a form of art and self-expression. Just like with my tutoring, I enjoy the creative process and the satisfaction of helping to bring out the best in someone. This hobby allows me to relax and recharge, bringing a fresh and positive energy to my tutoring sessions.

Anri S

Hi, I’m Anri! I’m currently in my fourth year of a Bachelor of Education with a specialization in the Senior and FET Phase, and I’ve also completed a 160-hour TEFL course to strengthen my ability to teach English as a foreign language. I matriculated through the Cambridge syllabus, which gave me a strong academic foundation and taught me how to approach complex questions with critical thinking. I achieved 3 distinctions — 91% in Afrikaans, 88% in English, and 81% in Business Studies — reflecting my dedication to learning and academic excellence. My experience with the Cambridge system and my current studies have given me a solid understanding of how exam questions are structured and how best to prepare for them.

As a tutor, I aim to be someone who facilitates learning in a way that’s clear, relatable, and tailored to each student’s needs. I focus on reinforcing what the teacher has already introduced by re-explaining the material in a method that suits the learner best. My approach is to start with the basics, ensuring the foundational concepts are solid before building up to more complex content. I believe in patient, flexible teaching that adapts to the learner’s pace and style to help them grow in confidence and ability.

In my spare time, I’ve recently discovered a love for crocheting — it’s both relaxing and creatively rewarding. Family time is very important to me, and we often spend weekends hiking or going for walks together. I’m also actively involved at my church, and nothing beats a good beach day to recharge and enjoy nature. These hobbies and values help me stay grounded and bring warmth and balance to my teaching.

Phindile M

Hi, I’m Phindile! I have completed a Diploma in Public Relations and have a passion for communication, connection, and helping others grow. Being multilingual in Afrikaans, English, Xitsonga, Zulu, and Sepedi has allowed me to connect with people from many different backgrounds and understand the importance of clear, inclusive communication—something I bring into every tutoring session.

As a tutor, I aim to assist each student by meeting them where they are, understanding their individual needs, and helping them reach their full potential. I believe in being patient, supportive, and adaptable, creating a safe space where learners feel confident to ask questions and make mistakes. My goal is to walk alongside my students as they grow, encouraging them every step of the way with a focus on progress and self-belief.

In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering with an NGO called Reach for a Dream, where I help bring joy and hope to children facing serious illnesses. I also love cooking, reading books online, traveling, and visiting art museums. These experiences keep me inspired and open-minded, and they remind me of the power of learning—not just in the classroom, but through every experience life has to offer.

I believe in a personalised, nurturing approach that not only improves academic performance but also builds life skills and self-belief.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, camping in nature, and staying organised through planning and creative expression. Singing and dancing are also a big part of my life, bringing joy and energy into everything I do. I strive to bring that same positivity and passion into my lessons, creating an uplifting and engaging learning environment for every student.
