Hi, I’m Pelocus! I’m currently completing a Bachelor of Education and have also completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification. My journey in education has given me both the knowledge and passion to support learners in a way that is engaging, understanding, and tailored to their needs.

As a tutor, I aim to help learners close the gaps in their understanding and rebuild strong academic foundations. Hi, I’m Lara! I have completed a Bachelor of Education in the Intermediate and Senior Phase and also hold an additional Early Childhood Development Certificate. My background has given me a strong foundation in teaching students of different ages, and I am particularly passionate about helping children and pre-teens build confidence in their learning. 

As a tutor, I focus on ensuring students develop concentration, repetition, and a solid understanding of fundamental concepts—especially in Mathematics. I strive to help learners see the importance of Maths beyond the classroom, making it engaging and relevant to their daily lives. My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students can thrive academically and personally. I am friendly, enthusiastic, and patient, and I adapt easily to new challenges to meet each student’s unique learning needs.

In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, reading, fitness, music, and gaming. I am also passionate about personal development and actively volunteer as a facilitator for personal growth courses. Nomakhwezi M

Hi, I’m Nomakhwezi! I’m currently completing a BCom in Economics and Econometrics at the University of Johannesburg. During my matric year, I achieved four distinctions, including 91% in Business Studies, 86% in Accounting, 87% in Geography, and 84% in Life Science. These results reflect my commitment to hard work, and I’m passionate about helping others achieve their academic goals too.

As a tutor, my approach is to build on students’ existing knowledge, help them understand their material deeply, and offer alternative perspectives to make complex concepts more accessible. I specialize in Grade 12 Geography, and I’m dedicated to ensuring my students feel confident in understanding the core topics, whether it’s mapwork, climate change, or development studies. My goal is to make learning enjoyable and empower my students to think critically about the subject.

Outside of academics, I’m involved in several activities, one of which is representing the Magnolia Ladies Residence Netball team. We had an outstanding season, and I love the team spirit and discipline sports bring. I also believe in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and staying active, which I feel is essential for both mental and physical well-being. Balancing academics with physical activity has been key to my success, and I encourage my students to find a healthy balance in their own lives too.

Hi, I’m Zakia! I am a qualified attorney with an LLB degree, and I’ve been tutoring since 2017. In my matric year, I achieved three distinctions, including 88% in English, 90% in Afrikaans, and 85% in Maths. These achievements reflect my dedication to academic success and provide a solid foundation in language and math that I now bring to my tutoring sessions, helping students reach their own academic goals.

Hi, I’m Zohar! I hold a BA Honours in Psychology and I am passionate about understanding and working with people, especially in the educational space. My background in psychology equips me with valuable insights into learning processes and individual needs, allowing me to tailor my approach to each student. I am also bilingual in Afrikaans, which enables me to connect with and support learners in both Afrikaans and English.

Jan matriculated with exceptional results before earning degrees in Chemical Engineering, Information Technology, and Business Leadership, alongside a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from a leading institution. Specially qualified for the FET phase, he has a strong understanding of high school curricula and the teaching approaches needed to support senior learners through important academic transitions.

With almost a decade of teaching experience, Jan is skilled at identifying gaps in understanding and helping learners build strong foundations. He has a particular strength in supporting Maths learners who may be finding the subject challenging, helping them strengthen their skills, rebuild their confidence, and work towards achieving the results they are capable of. Having completed over 345 tutoring hours with BrightSparkz, he has helped learners feel less overwhelmed by their work while giving them the confidence to continue pursuing their preferred subjects.

I’m Hameed! I successfully completed my Matric year and have since gone on to study a Bachelor of Business Science in Analytics at University. During this time I have also managed to accomplish a feat where I was chosen to be a part of the 100 students in the Western Cape to embark on the MIT and ISASA space exploration event.

I would describe myself as an intelligent, patient and problem-solving adept individual. I am skilled in Maths and computer-related programs and truly believe that these are my strong points. As a tutor, my main priority is the dedication to my students and clients.
