Christina K

Hi, I’m Christina! I’m an experienced tutor who has been working with students since 2012. I completed my matric year in 1999 and went on to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Education: Senior Phase and FET. This formal qualification, combined with my many years of practical tutoring experience, has given me the skills and insight to facilitate engaging lessons and help students not just improve their marks, but also develop a genuine love for Languages.

My main goal as a tutor is to be a facilitator, guiding you to a deeper understanding of the subject matter. I aim to create an enjoyable and supportive learning environment that encourages you to engage with Languages actively. By focusing on both foundational skills and creative expression, I strive to help you improve your abilities and, more importantly, discover the beauty and value of language and literature.

Outside of tutoring, I have a passion for all things creative and active. I enjoy creative writing and singing, and I’m a big fan of international culture, particularly foreign films. To keep active, I participate in Masters’ Athletics. I also love attending poetry and art festivals and spending time on arts and crafts. These diverse interests inform my teaching, bringing a well-rounded and engaging energy to our lessons.

Phumlile N

Hi, I’m Phumlile! I’m a dedicated and experienced educator with a passion for helping students succeed. My formal education is rooted in quality teaching; I’ve completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in the Intermediate Phase, and I’m also a trained Little Sparkz Facilitator, giving me specialist skills in developmental learning. Academically, I have a strong foundation—in my matric year, I achieved two distinctions. I’ve been actively tutoring since 2015, and this extensive experience has allowed me to develop a versatile, student-centred approach that adapts to the unique needs of every learner.

As your tutor, my core focus is to close the gaps in your understanding and get you exactly where you need to be. I don’t just aim for short-term fixes; I ensure you’re fully ready for the next level of your education, equipped with strong, reliable knowledge. Crucially, I provide a relaxed setting where you can freely ask questions, make mistakes, and practise your skills without pressure. My sessions are designed to build confidence alongside competence, turning challenging subjects into manageable ones through consistent, focused effort.

Outside of tutoring, I engage in a variety of activities that enhance my creative and analytical skills, which I often bring into my teaching. I love learning languages and puzzle solving, which sharpen my problem-solving abilities. I also have a strong creative side, enjoying designing, arts and crafts, and creating learning material—a hobby that allows me to develop bespoke, engaging resources for my students. Furthermore, my interest in business provides me with a practical, results-oriented mindset that ensures every session is efficient and effective.

Kirshni K

Hi, I’m Kirshni! I’m currently completing a Postgraduate LLB degree, which is an exciting journey that’s deepening my understanding of law and critical thinking. My academic passion for the Humanities started early; in my matric year, I achieved five distinctions, including a score of 92% in English, 87% in Afrikaans, 82% in French, 87% in Drama, and a high of 94% in History. I have been tutoring since 2022, and I believe my strong academic background in Languages and Humanities gives me a comprehensive toolkit to help students not just understand concepts, but genuinely enjoy learning.

As a tutor, I aim to do more than just improve grades; my true passion is effecting positive change and adding value to the lives of those who cross my path. On this platform, that means influencing students to have a thirst for knowledge and infecting others with my endless love for the English language. I focus on building personal and long-term relationships, ensuring each student feels supported and understood. I strive to make every session engaging, tailoring my approach to individual learning styles so that complex subjects become accessible and interesting.

Outside of my studies and tutoring, I keep myself busy with activities that enrich my mind and body. I once worked as a journalist intern for Cape Town ETC, an experience which truly cemented my love for reading and curated writing—skills I now bring into my tutoring. My other interests include working out and hiking, but in 2025, becoming a Sunday school teacher for CRC has become one of the most life-changing and blessed experiences for which I could have asked. It truly ranks highly on my list of interests and priorities, reinforcing my dedication to mentorship and positive influence, both in and out of the classroom, and I look forward to sharing that energy with you!

Getrude M

Hi, I’m Getrude! I am a qualified Foundation Phase teacher with a deep passion for early childhood development and foundational literacy. I have completed a Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase and majored in English for Primary School. This specialisation means I have been professionally trained in the specific methodologies required to teach young learners, focusing on critical areas like literacy, numeracy, emotional development, and perceptual skills. My tutoring experience dates back to 2022, where I’ve put these skills into practice to support foundational learning.

As a tutor, I focus on more than just overcoming immediate academic struggles. While I certainly help students who are facing difficulties, my true goal is to provide learners with essential techniques and strategies on how to learn. This includes nurturing characteristics crucial for the Foundation Phase—patience, curiosity, resilience, and a love of exploration. I use my training to break down information into manageable, engaging steps, teaching effective study skills, and helping students become more independent, confident thinkers.

In my spare time, I indulge my passion for language and creativity through reading and writing. I love to write poems and books, which allows me to explore creative expression. I also enjoy staying informed and engaged by reading novels and newspapers. This dedication to literacy and narrative informs my teaching, allowing me to approach tutoring with creativity and ensuring that reading, writing, and language development remain central and exciting for my students.

Bohlokoa M

Hi, I’m Bohlokoa! I am an enthusiastic and supportive tutor with a strong academic background in critical thinking and analytical subjects. I’m currently completing a Bachelor of Laws LLB, a degree that has significantly enhanced my ability to break down complex concepts, conduct thorough research, and communicate clearly. In my matric year, I achieved three distinctions, including excellent results in Business (89%) and Maths Literacy (84%), alongside overall strong marks for the rest of my subjects. I use the discipline and clarity gained from my studies to help my students achieve their own academic success.

My philosophy as a tutor centres on genuine connection and personal encouragement. My primary goal is to truly understand the student—their specific struggles, learning style, and academic goals. I believe it’s essential to go through the process with them, offering constant guidance and patience, rather than simply dictating solutions. Most importantly, I make it a point to let them know that you believe in them. By fostering this belief and confidence, I help students not only master the subject material but also develop the resilience needed to tackle future challenges independently.

When I step away from my studies and tutoring, I enjoy exploring new experiences. I love being a bit of a foodie, which means I enjoy trying out new restaurants and exploring different cuisines. Travelling is another great passion of mine, as it allows me to broaden my perspective and appreciate diverse cultures. I also enjoy the quiet pursuit of reading, which helps me stay sharp and informed. These interests keep me well-rounded and bring a calm, patient energy to my tutoring sessions.

Kudzai S

Hi, I’m Kudzai! I’m a passionate and focused tutor dedicated to helping students gain a complete understanding of challenging subjects. In my matric year, I demonstrated a strong aptitude for numerical and analytical work, achieving a distinction with 80% in Maths. I bring this commitment to foundational understanding into all my tutoring sessions, and I can also assist students with their Afrikaans. My dedication to learning and my clear memory of recent academic challenges allow me to connect with students effectively.

As a tutor, my aim is to go beyond the classroom curriculum. I don’t just review—I strive to expand on topics covered in school that students find confusing or simply do not understand. I achieve this by working in a deeper, more personal manner than is possible in a large class setting. My approach involves patiently breaking down complex concepts, using personalised examples, and making sure the student grasps the underlying logic, thereby building genuine confidence and a solid knowledge base in subjects like Maths and Afrikaans.

In my spare time, I enjoy a mix of physical and intellectual pursuits that keep me active and engaged. I like rollerblading in my neighbourhood and, though I’m an amateur, I really enjoy swimming. I also have a passion for reading and writing, which helps me communicate clearly. I am continuously learning and growing, as learning new things is something I love to do. To mix things up, I’ve recently started trying out theme parks, and experiencing the different rides is a lot of fun!

Abigail A

My academic background is strong and diverse, allowing me to approach tutoring with a well-rounded perspective. In my matric year, I achieved seven distinctions, including exceptional results in Drama (98%) and Afrikaans (90%), alongside solid marks in core subjects: Life Science (88%), Maths (84%), and English (81%). My ongoing medical studies have honed my analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, which I bring into every session.

As a tutor, I believe my role is not simply to teach, but to be a strategic guide. My main goal is to help students dive deeply into certain struggle topics, break them down, and make them understandable. I aim to tackle these topics in a non-conventional way, moving beyond standard textbook explanations to provide clarity. By explaining concepts in multiple different ways, I ensure that I connect with each student’s unique learning style, helping them achieve a true conceptual understanding rather than just memorising for a test.

Outside of my studies, I am energised by a wide array of activities that keep me balanced and open-minded. I love socialising with people at events and have a huge passion for helping people of all demographics. I value spending time with my family and enjoy getting an adrenaline rush from various adrenaline-inducing activities, as well as camping and working out when I can. I also have a passion for communication, which I express through writing and saying speeches and acting. My willingness to meet and go up to new people and my love for reading all contribute to a dynamic and empathetic tutoring approach.
