Nombasa K

Hi, I’m Nombasa! I’m currently completing my Master’s degree, with a major in Organisational and Institutional Studies. My academic background has equipped me with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, which I bring into every tutoring session. In my matric year, I achieved strong marks across all my subjects, laying the foundation for my passion for learning and helping others succeed. I have been tutoring since 2017 and am committed to making a meaningful difference in my students’ academic journeys.

As a tutor, I strive to be an approachable and patient guide. I create a safe, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from their mistakes without fear of judgment. I meet each learner where they are, helping them catch up while building their confidence step by step. I have experience working with students with ADHD and ADD, and I bring patience, understanding, and a learner-centred approach to support their individual needs. I break down complex concepts into manageable parts and adapt my teaching style to suit each student, ensuring they truly understand the material.

In my spare time, I enjoy expressing my creativity through art and staying active by playing squash and going hiking. I am also an avid reader, with a keen interest in business, entrepreneurship, and social development. These interests allow me to bring a well-rounded perspective to my tutoring and encourage students to see learning as a lifelong journey beyond the classroom.

Saiona M

Hi, I’m Saiona! I’ve completed a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology, Education, and Criminology. My academic journey has allowed me to understand people, learning processes, and the world we live in on a deeper level. In matric, I achieved two distinctions—81% in History and 82% in Life Orientation—which reflect my passion for human behaviour, society, and critical thinking.

As a tutor, my aim is to empower learners by helping them build both academic confidence and a genuine understanding of their subjects. I strive to make lessons engaging, adaptable, and tailored to each student’s unique learning style. More than just helping with schoolwork, I want to equip my students with lifelong learning skills and create a supportive environment where they feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. I believe that tutoring is not just about teaching, but about inspiring curiosity and nurturing potential.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, going on peaceful walks in nature, spending quality time with the people who matter most to me, and getting lost in music. These moments help me stay grounded and bring calm and creativity into my tutoring style. I look forward to making learning enjoyable and rewarding for every student I work with!

Hi, I’m Maritsa! I have completed a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, which has given me a strong foundation in understanding people and supporting their growth—both academically and emotionally. In my matric year, I achieved 2 distinctions: 85% in German and 80% in Mathematics and a close 75% in Afrikaans Home Language. I am bilingual in Afrikaans and English, which allows me to connect with and support a wide range of students more effectively.

With over 10 years of tutoring experience, I’ve enjoyed guiding learners through their academic journeys with patience and encouragement. As a tutor and Study Skills facilitator, I see my role as more than just teaching—I aim to guide students by offering structure, direction, confidence, and support. I believe in empowering learners by helping them understand their own strengths and developing a learning path that works for them. For me, tutoring is a form of coaching: I walk alongside my students, providing a calm and encouraging presence as they build their knowledge and self-assurance.

In my spare time, I love traveling, especially to Europe and the United States, where I can immerse myself in new cultures and experiences. I’m passionate about helping others and often offer free counselling services to those in need. I also enjoy reading, watching movies and series, and listening to music—these hobbies help me recharge and bring a sense of balance to my life.

Mariam K

Hi, I’m Mariam! I have completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (FET Phase), equipping me with the skills to guide students through their academic journey. My experience includes working with special needs learners, which has taught me patience, adaptability, and the importance of personalized learning approaches. I believe that education is not just about memorizing facts but about truly understanding and engaging with the material in a way that makes sense to each student.

As a tutor, my goal is not to be a teacher in the traditional sense, but rather to offer extra help and support where it’s needed. I focus on consolidating work, reinforcing key concepts, and making learning an enjoyable experience. Building a strong relationship with my students is important to me, as I believe a comfortable and encouraging environment helps them thrive. By incorporating fun and engaging methods, I aim to make lessons feel less like a chore and more like a rewarding journey of discovery.

In my spare time, I am deeply passionate about psychology, particularly neuropsychology, as I love learning about the brain. My favorite pastimes include watching YouTube, baking, and reading. I also enjoy going for runs, as I’m addicted to the exhilarating ‘runner’s high.’ Beyond academics, I am committed to continuously learning about my religion and finding ways to give back to my community. My passion for education and psychology stems from my desire to make a meaningful impact on others, and tutoring allows me to do just that.
