Maritsa A

Hi, I’m Maritsa! I have completed a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, which has given me a strong foundation in understanding people and supporting their growth—both academically and emotionally. In my matric year, I achieved 2 distinctions: 85% in German and 80% in Mathematics and a close 75% in Afrikaans Home Language. I am bilingual in Afrikaans and English, which allows me to connect with and support a wide range of students more effectively.

With over 10 years of tutoring experience, I’ve enjoyed guiding learners through their academic journeys with patience and encouragement. As a tutor and Study Skills facilitator, I see my role as more than just teaching—I aim to guide students by offering structure, direction, confidence, and support. I believe in empowering learners by helping them understand their own strengths and developing a learning path that works for them. For me, tutoring is a form of coaching: I walk alongside my students, providing a calm and encouraging presence as they build their knowledge and self-assurance.

In my spare time, I love traveling, especially to Europe and the United States, where I can immerse myself in new cultures and experiences. I’m passionate about helping others and often offer free counselling services to those in need. I also enjoy reading, watching movies and series, and listening to music—these hobbies help me recharge and bring a sense of balance to my life.

Amy L

Hi, I’m Amy! I have completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Cum Laude), a Master of Arts in English, as well as a Bachelor of Social Science in Management and Communications. In my matric year, I achieved two distinctions—81% in Afrikaans and 80% in Life Science—with a close 79% in English. These academic milestones reflect a well-rounded background and a deep commitment to both the humanities and social sciences.

With over 10 years of experience in teaching and tutoring, I’ve come to truly value the impact of one-on-one support. As a tutor, my goal is to focus on each student’s unique needs—giving them the time, attention, and tailored strategies they may not always receive in a classroom setting. I aim to bridge the gap between where learners are academically and where they want to be, while building their confidence and nurturing their independent thinking.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, and painting—all of which keep me inspired and bring a calm, creative energy to my sessions. These passions also help me connect with students in meaningful ways, making learning not only effective, but enjoyable too. I look forward to helping learners reach their full potential with patience, insight, and dedication.
