Hanli O

Hi, I’m Hanli! I’m a highly motivated and experienced tutor with a passion for the Sciences and dedicated to helping students bridge the gap between classroom teaching and full understanding. I am currently completing my rigorous Degree in Medicine and Surgery, which has equipped me with advanced problem-solving and critical analysis skills. In my matric year, I achieved five distinctions, including strong results across my core subjects: Life Science (87%), Physical Science (86%), Xhosa (85%), and English and Maths (both 83%). Having been tutoring since 2019, I’ve developed a clear philosophy for how I support my students. I see my role not as the primary teacher, but as a specialist who fills the gaps. The classroom lays the foundation, and I come in to patch the weak spots, reinforce the structure, and build resilience. I focus on clarifying confusing concepts, simplifying complex calculations, and providing targeted practice in areas where students lack confidence. Being fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English also allows me to explain tricky material in the language that resonates best with the student, ensuring maximum clarity and comprehension. When I step away from my studies and tutoring, I make sure to stay active and challenge myself in the outdoors. I enjoy any form of outdoor activities, especially those that connect me with nature. You can often find me surfing or hiking. These pursuits teach me patience and perseverance, qualities that I bring directly into my tutoring sessions to help students navigate and overcome academic challenges with a focused and positive mindset.
