Jess R

Hi, I’m Jess! I’m currently completing a Bachelor of Arts in Language and Culture, driven by my love for words, storytelling, and understanding different perspectives. In my matric year, I achieved seven distinctions, including 94% in both English and Afrikaans, 90% in History, and strong results across Maths, Geography, and Life Sciences. My academic journey has deepened my appreciation for language and the ways in which it shapes our world, and I love sharing that enthusiasm with my students.

As a tutor, my goal is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new ways of thinking. I believe that every learner has a unique style, and I focus on identifying strengths while filling in any gaps in understanding. Whether it’s breaking down complex ideas, explaining concepts in different ways, or simply being there for support, I strive to be kind, compassionate, and accessible. Building a connection with my students is just as important as the academic progress they make, and I hope to help them build confidence in their abilities.

In my spare time, I’m passionate about musical theatre, writing, and reading. I also love spending time in nature, especially hiking, as it inspires my creativity. Embroidery and playing the piano are some of my favorite ways to unwind, and songwriting—along with singing—is a hobby that brings me immense joy. I believe that learning should be as enriching and fulfilling as any creative pursuit, and I bring that mindset into every lesson I teach.

Hi, I’m Josh! I’m currently completing a Bachelor of Law, building on my passion for critical thinking and structured analysis. In my matric year, I achieved four distinctions, including 87% in Business Studies, 84% in English, 81% in AP English, and 88% in History. These subjects not only challenged me academically but also deepened my understanding of how to apply knowledge practically and creatively—a skill I aim to pass on to my students.

As a tutor, my goal is to educate and inspire free thinking while fostering a sound work ethic. I believe in filling in the gaps that students may encounter in their classroom learning, ensuring they feel confident in their abilities. I strive to create a supportive environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new ideas, and unlocking their full potential. My approach is tailored to each student’s needs, with a focus on guiding them to develop a deeper understanding of the material.

In my spare time, I enjoy balancing my love for sports and creativity. I’m passionate about cricket, tennis, and rugby, and I find these activities not only energizing but also great for building discipline and teamwork. On the artistic side, I enjoy writing, which allows me to express myself and explore ideas in a meaningful way. Whether on the field or with a pen in hand, I’m always looking for ways to grow and bring that same enthusiasm to my tutoring sessions.
