Hi, I’m Mia! I hold a Bachelor of Law degree, and in my matric year, I achieved five distinctions, including 94% in Afrikaans, 91% in English, and 83% in French. With my strong academic background in languages, a passion for clear communication and having Afrikaans as my home language, I enjoy helping students strengthen their language skills and achieve their academic goals. I’ve also had the opportunity to tutor in Afrikaans boot camp settings, where I’ve developed strategies for breaking down complex language concepts in ways that are engaging and accessible.

As a tutor, my focus is on re-teaching content in a way that aligns with each learner’s unique needs and learning style. I believe that learning should feel approachable, so I simplify challenging material and adapt to the student’s best capacity to foster a true understanding of the subject. I love seeing my students gain confidence as they grasp new ideas, knowing they’re equipped to tackle challenges in the future.

In my spare time, I enjoy baking—especially working toward perfecting a sourdough loaf! My interests also include exploring languages, literature, nutrition, philosophy, and study skill optimization. I find that these areas connect well with my tutoring approach, as they allow me to bring a well-rounded perspective to my lessons, inspiring students to appreciate learning in all its forms.
