Karlien has over 17 years of experience teaching local and international students on a tertiary level, with a focus on foreign language acquisition and academic literacy skills.

What Karlien would like you to know about her:

“I have over 16 years of experience teaching local and international students on a tertiary level, with a focus on foreign language acquisition and academic literacy skills. While obtaining my Master’s degree, I joined Stellenbosch University in 1999 as an editor of a bilingual Afrikaans and Dutch dictionary. After the completion of this project I started my career as a Language Acquisition lecturer as well as an Academic Literacy lecturer at the Stellenbosch University Language Centre specializing in Afrikaans as foreign and first language. Apart from teaching and developing content for the Afrikaans courses, I have published several Afrikaans second additional language textbooks. I believe teaching is a work of the heart and I would love to share my heart with you!”
