Hi, I’m Getrude! I am a qualified Foundation Phase teacher with a deep passion for early childhood development and foundational literacy. I have completed a Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase and majored in English for Primary School. This specialisation means I have been professionally trained in the specific methodologies required to teach young learners, focusing on critical areas like literacy, numeracy, emotional development, and perceptual skills. My tutoring experience dates back to 2022, where I’ve put these skills into practice to support foundational learning.

As a tutor, I focus on more than just overcoming immediate academic struggles. While I certainly help students who are facing difficulties, my true goal is to provide learners with essential techniques and strategies on how to learn. This includes nurturing characteristics crucial for the Foundation Phase—patience, curiosity, resilience, and a love of exploration. I use my training to break down information into manageable, engaging steps, teaching effective study skills, and helping students become more independent, confident thinkers.

In my spare time, I indulge my passion for language and creativity through reading and writing. I love to write poems and books, which allows me to explore creative expression. I also enjoy staying informed and engaged by reading novels and newspapers. This dedication to literacy and narrative informs my teaching, allowing me to approach tutoring with creativity and ensuring that reading, writing, and language development remain central and exciting for my students.
