Hi, I’m Shela! I’m currently completing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, specialising in Mechanical Engineering. I’ve always enjoyed problem-solving and working with complex systems, which made engineering a natural choice for me. In my matric year, I achieved 3 distinctions, including 80% in both Mathematics and Physical Science — subjects that continue to play a major role in my academic and career journey.

As a tutor, my goal is to help learners truly understand their work, not just memorise it. I aim to build a strong and positive relationship between the student and their studies, making the learning journey less intimidating and more manageable. I also focus on changing the mindset around learning — showing students that they’re capable, smart, and that with the right approach, they can overcome academic challenges. It’s about building confidence, step by step.

In my spare time, I’m really drawn to debate coaching — I love helping others think more critically and communicate their ideas with clarity and confidence. I’m also a huge dog person and enjoy learning all about their behavior and care. Recently, I’ve been taking LinkedIn courses in project management, prototyping, and animation to expand my skill set. I also find joy in sewing and designing my own clothing — it’s a creative outlet that keeps me grounded and allows me to express myself in a unique way.
