Hi, I’m Mary! I hold a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Education and have been teaching since 2009, with extensive experience supporting learners in Maths. Over the years, I have worked with children of different ages, abilities, and learning styles, which has helped me develop a patient, adaptable, and encouraging approach to teaching. I am passionate about helping learners build confidence in their abilities while creating a positive and supportive learning environment.

As a tutor, my aim is to meet the individual needs of each learner by carefully assessing their strengths and areas for improvement. I understand that every child learns differently — some learners grasp concepts quickly, while others may need more time and support. I adapt my teaching style according to the learner’s pace and preferred learning methods to ensure they fully understand the work. I also believe in working closely with parents to provide feedback on progress, discuss any challenges the learner may be facing, and build a strong partnership that encourages accountability, growth, and connection.

I am also able to support learners who struggle with concentration by using practical and engaging teaching techniques. These include giving instructions with actions, using visual aids and flashcards, breaking work into manageable stages, allowing learners to read aloud, and using practical objects such as blocks for counting activities. I enjoy incorporating examples linked to a child’s personal interests to keep lessons engaging and relatable, while continuously encouraging and praising their efforts to help them feel confident and motivated. In my spare time, I enjoy sport, which helps me maintain an active and balanced lifestyle.
